Organic Farming
Organic Farming
In recent years the markets and sales of products from the organic farming sector have grown considerably. For current organic farmers this offers opportunities to increase their production, whereas for new farmers this gives the possibility to switch their farm to the organic way of production.
The organic farming sector does not use any chemical-synthetic crop protection means and fertilisers, and is based on a large-scale cultivation plan and a healthy crop rotation scheme.
The following is a list of important questions for farmers who want to make the switch to organic farming:
- Does the organic cultivation method offer chances for my company?
- farm economics
- type of farmer/entrepreneur
- How are the sales of organic products organised?
- most important markets
- role of the entrepreneur in the marketing and sales
- What does it mean: switching to organic farming?
- crop systems, cultivation plan and crop rotation
- fertilisation
- control of weeds
- pest and disease control
- labour
- mechanisation
- Which rules do I have to comply with?
- certification
- law and regulatory framework
